1. Delete the data on your phone
Open the app, go to the Account tab and tap Logout and clear. This deletes your keys and contacts from the phone. Uninstalling the app does the same on that phone.
Before you do it: without your 12-word recovery phrase the account cannot be restored, by you or by us.
2. Ask us to delete the data on our servers
Deleting the app or logging out does not delete what our servers store. To have that deleted, send us a request in either of these ways:
- From the app: open the Info tab, go to Support and write "Delete my account". The request is linked to your account automatically.
- By email: write to enigma@ifonly.tech with the subject "Delete my account" and include your public address. You find it in the app on the Account tab, where you can copy it.
We delete the data within 30 days of your request and confirm when it is done.
3. What is deleted
- Your account record: public address and public key
- Push notification tokens
- Your support history, including reports and our replies
- Stored media: the encrypted files you sent that are still on our servers
- The key-exchange log for your address
- Setup progress records linked to your account
4. What is not deleted, and why
- Anonymous usage statistics. They carry a random identifier that is never linked to your public address, so we cannot find them by your account. They are deleted automatically after 13 months.
- Purchases. Payments are handled by Apple or Google, who keep their own records. Deleting your account does not cancel a subscription: cancel it first in the App Store or Google Play under Subscriptions.
- Messages you sent. They live in the messengers you used, encrypted. We never had them.
5. After deletion
The account cannot be recovered, not even with the recovery phrase, because the server no longer knows it. Your contacts keep the keys you shared with them until they delete them. You can always create a new account in the app.
